Lab work

Entomologist will collect the sample/specimen for identification. Initially sample is collected, identification of pest through various method is done and labelling and preservation of the insect specimens under insect storage cabinet/box.

Visual Examination

Using illuminated magnifier to detect live insect infestation. Milled products are subject to sieving to detect insect infestation; flowers are initially tapped for identification of any insects. For vegetables cut open of infected region is done.

Microscopic Examination

Easy identification of insect pests using morphological characters is done using Magnoscope and Stereo-zoom microscope fitted with camera is used to capture the images of insect.

X-Ray Test

X-ray test is used for the detection of hidden infestation in seeds, internal damage by fruit/nut borers and also detection of budworms in un-opened cut flowers, internal infestation/ infection in bulbs and tubers.
